Valentines Day History : A Brief History
0February 14, 2013 by awaymire
Valentines day is a holiday in honor of a Saint named Valentine. In the Roman Empire the Emperor Claudius II thought single men where better soldiers. So, he made a law stating that no marriages where allowed.
St.Valentine defied the Emperor and married many young people. It is said that when the saint was discovered the Emperor had the saint put to death.
Other stories say he was put in jail. It’s said he sent the first Valentine message to the person he fell in love with. Maybe his jailors daughter. She visited him often.
