Swallowing Stones

by Joyce McDonald

Review by Austin

In Swallowing Stones, there is a young man named Michael McKenzie, who one day carelessly fires the Winchester 45. 70 rifle his grandfather gave him into the air, which one it falls, it kills a man more than a mile away from where Michael was. This not only turns his world upside down, but it also turns that of Jenna Ward’s, the daughter of the man killed, upside down as well. This book chronicles not only the life of Michael, but also Jenna’s after Charlie Ward’s death.

The book itself wasn’t all that bad, but the ending leaves you just saying “Huh?” and wondering what happened. There is a little bit of suggestive content in it, nothing too bad, but younger readers beware. The book has a good story line, that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and in some parts makes your heart race as if you were Micheal yourself. I’d give this book a 3 out of 5 rating.
